quick question for you all:
I stopped this morning to get coffee and was in there for a few mins. When I came out I heard the High Idle on and it sounded like the engine was surging.....like rooom rooom rooom rooom, but it wasn't real loud but noticable. Any ideas on what it could be?

Yup, I had my three cylinder disabled, not sure how but when mine goes into high idle it sounds just like if I was reving it up. The three cylinder high idle might have something to do with the auto vs manual also, not sure about this.

I hear mine surging more in the exhaust. Don't know if the fan would have anything to with that. Also it was in the mid to upper 30's as far as outside temp. How do you disable the 3 cylinder high idle? Do you have to go to the dealer or can it done with something like a Smarty?

I don't remember where I had it done, either a dealer or Scheid Diesel in Effingham, I've never had mine do it since, they have both hooked to the computer, not sure which one did it though.

i cant remember the exact temp, but i want to say 15* it will drop out 3 cylinders, so the other 3 have to work harder to overcome the compression of 3 dead plugs, this results in higher EGT's and quicker warm-up times. guys in the much colder north have reported seeing EGT's in the 400-500 range at idle on 3-cyl warm up which gets the engine temp up alot quicker.
