Worst day ever/ truck died won't start...HELP..
Well to start the day off I had a doctors appt. due to my boys have been hurting for some while, I am 27 so I was hoping it wasn't prostrate cancer, but guess what...ya he went right up the poop shoot and checked anyhow, So leaving there setting sideways in the seat, I get the dead pedal, I pushed the go pedal and it just barely moved the truck then came on all at once, it did this one more time before leaving town. Then while leaving town munching on a jalapeno burger from Hardees' ol johnny law pulls me over and gives me a seatbelt and speeding ticket...thank you offices ****** ******
So now I am at work and leaving for break and I dont even make it out of the parking lota and the **** thing dies and wont' start at all, I changed fuel filters, the lift pump is running fine, just replaced it a few months ago and got codes P1765 and P1693.....Someone help me please I just took a few Vicodin to ease my groin pain and my truck pain.......

Ya I plan on bringing it in the shop at break and cracking the lines, Thanks Man...anything else that would cause it to not start, Crank or cam sensor if these have them...

Has it been acting up?
Loosen 3-4 injector lines at the head and crank it. Is there fuel leaking? If not it is the vp-44, I bet. If the loose lines are leaking, snug them and crank it 20 seconds to see if it will fire.

The 1st things I thought of were fuel pressure test .
the codes 1693 is a companion code , 1765 - trans 12v supply relay - this may be your culprit .
Check for power at lift pump , then check fuel pressure .

I don't know if this will help but here goes. I have had my 90, 94, and 97 wheel over and not start. The problem on all three Cummins' was the fuel solonoid relay. On these it was located on the firewall above the valve cover. There are 2 relays there, the one closest to the steering shaft was my problem. Normally Advanced Auto has them around $30.00. A good way to check is to turn on the key, manually lift the fuel plunger on the solonoid and then crank. If it starts, there is your problem.. If this is not your issue, keep this for good info. Good Luck

That is what I was thinking, I loosene the lines, and right before you let off the key after cranking it will try to start and the lines will then squirt...

The 2001 does not have a fuel solenoid.
I suspect your injection pump is failing, but disconnect both negative battery cables and then turn on your lights and key, and let it set at least 20 minutes to bleed out all residual power from the air bag and stereo capacitors and kill all memory in the ECM and PCM.
Then turn everything off, and reconnect the battery cables.
Try to start, it may take a try a short few second wait with the key still on, and then another try or two before it fires, but if it starts after it resets the PCM to default, you likely have a failed or failing Throttle Position Sensor or the logic board in the injection pump itself.
The 1765 code is a failure code related to the 12 volt supply solenoid for the transmission control circuit - the torque converter lock is part of that circuit.
The 1693 is telling you that an error exists in the transmission control logic of the PCM, and that can be the Throttle Position Sensor failing to sync with the logic board in the injection pump, or may be the 1765.
I suspect both of those codes have been around for some time and are related to a wiring error in your torque converter lock up switch.
