Welcome!! If your truck is like mine look in the fuse panel that you see when you open the driver's door. There will be two flasher units in there. I believe that the one you want is the top one. Just pull it out and replace it.

Thank you but, I have tried that. there are only fuses and a relay, no flasher. Someone told me to check behind the glove box but I didn't see anything.

The Relay is the flasher.

the autoparts store looked up the flasher for the trucks it says it should be flasher model 552, it has 2 prongs, the relay in the fuse box has 6 prongs, I'm confused.

On my truck (1999) when the turn signals are on, you can place your fingers on the relay and feel it clicking.

I've heard before about the unique flasher unit that Dodge puts in their trucks, I haven't had to replace mine yet though.

Do we have this relay because of the lighing system being different on the 3500 due to additional lights?? I recall my 2001 2500 Sport V-10 4x4 had regular flashers, but I didn't have the cab clearance lights etc. on it. Just wondering....

Not sure as my clearance lights aren't tied into the turn signals.

On your 01 it's the larger blue or black cube at the bottom of your fuse block. Another question is: Do your emergency flashers work? Sometimes I see the emergency flasher side fail and the switch is "on" and this will allow the turn signals not to operate. I rarely see these flasher modules fail, but it can happen.

Emergency flashers still work. I hear a clicking from the blue cube, I replaced that and still had the same problem. the parts store is telling me the the blue cube with 6 prongs is not the flasher, but a relay for something else. the picture they keep showing me for the flasher is a standard 2 prong flasher 552. my problem is I can't find it anywhere under the dash.

Believe me, the flasher module is the one you were looking at and it controls both the emergency flashers and turn signals. Have you tried "beating" on your t/s switch (switch it back and forth manually fast....get manly with it) sometimes the contacts in the switch itself go bad and cause an "inop" condition.
