Truck won't start - P0251 code
My '99 24V died on the highway Sunday. I spent all Sun. evening and all day Mon. going through the service manuals and everything points to the VP44. I've heard of a tester for it. Where can I get one? Thanks!

Re:Truck won't start - P0251 code
A little more info is available on this code...
As noted above the P0251 code does translate to: "...fuel pump mechanical failure..."
It is a cause of concern...
Often this code is accompanied by another code as well: "...P0252..or " fuel valve signal missing.."
These occur together commonly due to the connection of performance enhancement devices that conncect to the injection pump power wire, which for whatever reason becomes disconnected or intermittently connected while the engine is running.
If either of these things occur it will immediately set those codes.
Considering the amount of vibration these engines develope as well as aggressive air flow inside the engine compartment it is fairly easy to have a poor connection such as a clip-on connector loose contact.
This info is taken from a CTD periodical and I've paraphrased it here to offer some extra help.
