Truck just died and won't start P1689
I was cruising through a parking lot and the truck just sputtered and died. I have P1693 and P1689 codes. I looked them up in the Smarty manual and they are: P1693; DTC cleared in companion JTEC module. P1689; No comm between ECM and injection pump module. Please help me! The truck is down the street in a daycare parking lot!!!

Great. Is there any way to check the pump, instead of assuming it must be the pump? I got it started after a few cranking sessions and drove the mile back to school. It acted like it cut off for a second on the way back, and I still have the codes.

Dealer, huh? I have service manual. Is there any way procedure for testing the pump or electrical systems? When it started at first it coughed and sputtered. Then halfway back it sputtered again.

I went out today and cleared the codes, checked all of the fittings and hose in the fuel system, and started it. I drove immediately to the gas station a filled up with $3.29 #2. Still running good. Drove to NAPA, about 5 miles away, and had no problems. I pulled the codes when I got back out, and I got a P0122.I cleared it. It started fine and drove back to school fine. I checked the codes when I got back, and the P0122 was back.

Hmmm. I have completely removed the Comp. So, we will see where it goes. If it does not occur then that could be a possibility. What did you do with your Edge product? Send it back? Did they charge you?

I sent it back for testing (no charge), came up bad and could not be fixed. They offered me some deals...... I passed. Just recently the superchips started doing the same code, back to stock setting and had an uneventful 1,500 mile trip to nebraska and back with no code over t-giving.

I went on about a 340 mile trip this weekend, against better judgment, and had no issues. If it drives OK for a while I will try putting the Edge back on. What are your bets on? Edge Comp, VP, APPS, ground?

My trucks been doing the same exact thing ,its driving me nuts.I got the P1689 and 1693.I removed the Edge box,and it stopped doing it for a day,and now its doing it again with it off,and i now have a P0122 as well, since removing the comp. I went over all the connections, dielectric on everything, pulled the wires while it was running, nothing would make it happen. It is intermittent, and the truck hasnt stranded me yet.Its worse when cold, and it cuts out for a sec, then comes back on.I think im going to just put a VP44 in it,i got a known good one sitting here, with only 40K on it,my worst fear is it will die when plowing or right before a big storm.
