Truck died while driving, won't start, RIP VP44?

Well at 515 this morning 30 minutes from home, cruising in fifth, going pu a hill, give it some fuel, clunk dies. Coast to side of road, ni CEL yet. So cranks fine, no funny noises. Not vaporizing fuel, no smoke at all coming out. Does this mean no fuel at all being injected, so VP? there is fuel pressure from lift pump, few minutes later codes were P1693 and P1694. It seems to that the symptoms point to the inj. pump. Is this true?

Good shop near Golden, CO? Thanks a lot

Should there be other codes though? Maybe computer prolems, not operating VP? Truck is stuck in another town, need help!

If you bump the starter, what fuel pressure do you have at the VP44?

goes up to the normal 14-15 for a sec, drops off until the truck starts (under normal conditions), but won't start

If you bump the starter and don't start the truck the FP should be up for about 25 seconds the lift pump should keep running.

So just towed to my place. When I was waiting the 1.5hours for the truck, it watched the FP while cranking, held at 14-15 psi. Still same symptoms, but no VP codes, is there a good test? I don't want to take it to the dealership and say "I think some thing's wrong" and see what their "best" guess is. If I am doing it anyway, is the HRVP44 worth it?

Will that show that the pump just works at all, or that it an achieve full pressure to pop injector?

thanks, guess Ill give it a try. What's the standard labor charge to replace one? I watched the video on how to do it, but not sure I want to tackle it yet....no garage or flat ground either.

Well, got quoted 2200 installed, 2500 installed at dealership, 1700 at another shop (after the guy had to call me back, once he quoted $5000 for JUST the IP !!). Does the $1700 seem alright? I am considering doing it myself, not sure though.

MWFI has IPs for around 1050. No need to spend more at the dealer for a stocker.

So ordered a IIS unit, some plate for the wire tap so I don't void the 1 year warranty. Only special tool needed is to pull the timing gear right? Can just use alternator to get crank to correct position.
