trouble placeing trans temp sender
2003 2500 H.O. adding gauges ( boost/EGT/Trans temp) Di Pricolgauges.
Tried placeing trans temp sender in to test port (rear upper faceing pass door) as recomended in other forums. sender will not thread. Feels like it is hitting something that prevents the threads from engauging. No problem removing plug.
Chased sender threads and early part of trans threads without problem. placed a probe and do not feel any major obstruction to port hole. Anyone with experience with this trans and placeing sender. pretty sure trans is 48RE.
Thanks.

As far as I know using the trans test port for a probe is only recommended for the 47RH trans used from '94 -'96 but I'm not all that familar with the 48.
If it will work on an 48 what I've done on stubborn threads on the 47RH is run a greased tap pretty far into the trans port. The test ports don't seem to have as steep of a thread taper as most pipe threads and are hard to start and thread down before resistance is met. Metal chips will stick to the grease on the tap instead of dropping into the tranny.

I used the port facing to the rear.

Thanks for the input. Read on a thread that the probe had instructions from di pricol for using one of the angle ports with a bell adapter fitting.
Went to look again for my instructions and found out why they were mising. I was sent two boost gauges and no temp gauge. Will fix that on Monday and in the mean time try the rear facing port.
Thanks
