starts fine after few seconds it stops
My 97 Dodge diesel starts fine, but after sitting more than 1 day, it starts fine then spits & sputters, then quits and doesn't want to restart. Once started, it runs fine. Have same problem whenever it sits more than a day. Any suggestions???

Sounds like you have a line leaking. You may not notice any fuel drips, but our trucks are known for developing leaks in the lines. Mine is starting to do the same thing, so just need a free night or two. Need some loooong fingers to get to everything easy, but not a big job to replumb. Others will jump in with other ideas I'm sure.

If you have never replaced the fuel lines above the starter you are lucky to have gone this far while you are at it drop the starter as the contacts are going to go next and while it is out it will be easier to change out the lines, also get a preflilter cleaner kit from cummins and do all three. Get your hoses and starter contacts from www.fostertruck.com he sells quality stuff. Goodluck,, Rick If you do try to pressurize the system do not go over 5 to 10 psi as you can do dammage.
