smokin and miss at high rpm

got home from a 3 hour trip with my new straight pipe and reved my engine in the driveway just to hear it and noticed when my tack reaced 2500 it started to miss and a cloud of white-blue colored smoke came from the tail pipe. I know it is not the pipe it is just the first time i have reved to engine that high with no load since i bought it a month ago. it smells like diesel smoke so i dont think it is oil but am not sure what is causing it... I also get alot of smoke and a miss at start up but just thought my timeing might be a little off.
oh its a 94 12valve 140,000
Re:smokin and miss at high rpm

A miss might be your timing. As for the smoke, chances are is that it is just diesel.

Re:smokin and miss at high rpm

The white/blue smoke and the miss at high RPMs is a strong indication that it is a timing problem. Before I checked the timing, make sure your return line is in good shape as well as your overflow valve. But, I think you will find that your problem is the timing. The P7100 has no key-way on the pump shaft, any oil residue on the shaft when installing the gear will make the pump gear slip on the shaft over time as well as normal operation.

Re:smokin and miss at high rpm

Sounds like a good plan to me. The overflow valve can cause lots of trouble.
george

Re:smokin and miss at high rpm

Mine was doing the same thing, but due to a light wallet right now I cand take it in to a shop to figure out what is wrong. I was told that my problems may be a bad injector pump :'(. I haven't been able to find a shop close by yet to check the little things (fuel pressure...etc..). If you figured it out I would I'd be grateful to hear. Thanks and good luck. -Cody

p.s. Were you loosing any power up hills or at high speed? thanks again.
