sealant
hey fellas
well did my gauge install this weekend. and everything should be finished up today but i still need a thread sealant for my pyro on the manifold. the only sealant i could find would only tolerate temps up to 700 degrees and i highly doubt that is hot enough. and one other thing can i seal my fuel pressure gauge line with teflon or will the diesel just desolve it? thanks

Marty,
You will want to use antisieze on your pyro probe. Loctite has a number of different products that are good for this temperature range. They make a nickle based antisieze that is good to 2400 deg F. The copper stuff is good to 1800 deg F.
As for the other threads, you'll want to use a thread sealer. Loctite 567 PST (liquid teflon) works very well.
Permatex also makes good thread sealers as well, but Im not overly familiar with their products.

You NEVER want to use teflon on any type of fuel system connection. It will dissolve it and cause the particles to contaminate your fuel system. I used thread-loc on mine and 3 weeks later, no leaks. Good luck.
