Hey guys, I got my starter kit in the mail today that i ordered off ebay.

For 29.50 I got a new plunger, return spring, gasket, and 2 PAIRS of new HD contacts. Guess I'll throw the extra set in the glove box.

A few questions, Do i need to clean anything else up while I'm in there? Do I need to put Di electric grease on enything?

The copper parts I got are a very good qaulitybut have a few fingerprints and what not on the that could lead to corrosion. Should I clean then up and what should i use?

Any thing else i need to know before i start into this....Im workin nights right now so i have to do it in the am after work then try to get some sleep to be back at work at 6pm.....

How long will this take?

Thanks in advance guys, Zack

i got lucky with the little ball, landed on a papertowel at the top of the 40 gallon trash can.
just ordered the super contact kit, my bad batteries worked the contact and plunger hard on mine. with big new contacts, bigger 2/0 cable and bigger batteries it should start very well now!

Make sure the contacts are flat against the bottom of the starter. I think the directions state this also.

Clean up the armature and field with some wd-40 and clean rags. Get into the gear end of it, clean up the gears and relube. You will also see a funny looking bearing, I think it is 3 rollers and a plastic holder, clean and lube. I just used some mobil 1 grease is all areas that I felt it needed it. Pretty straight forward. There is a link on how to somewhere, I'll see if I can find it.
