re- o-ringing heads?
thanks for all the info guys but a new problem has now arrived. the machine shop has cut one groove deeper than the other five, which i know can be easily fixed, but not only did they cut different depths, the o-ring is now cut too wide to set on the fire ring of the gasket. they are telling me to trust them that it will seal, but nobody else that i talk to seems to think it will and the machine shop is not wanting to pay for the repairs, I am on a VERY limited budget. I had the money to get it o-ringed, but not o-ringed, screwed up, then milled and had the valves grinded for clearance and then o-ringed again. if i get my head milled .035 to clean the head back up won't i have to have my valves grinded and reseated to keep the valves from hitting the piston? thanks for WHATEVER you can tell me.

get ready for a law suit... you don't want your head milled .035" yes, you'll have to have the bowls re-ground and seated, and it'll effect pushrod geometry.
I would insist on a new head, then take it and run to a good machine shop.
the eternal lesson is DO YOUR HOMEWORK on machine shops... if you've got to drive 2hrs each way to go to a good machine shop, it's well worth it!!!
