raptor 150 install help!
We are in the middle of installing the raptor 150 and we were under the impression that we would reuse the factory draw straw. it's an 04.5 with the filter housing mounted lift pump that has failed. instuctions state that we need to pull the bed and drill. do we have to do that?
HELP! needs done tonight.

pull the bed and drill if you can, otherwise i think you need to drop the tank, much harder. pulling the bed is easier than you think and takes less time than dropping the tank.

I've got the AD150 that required the use of the supplied draw straw so I'm guessing the Raptor 150 would pull the same amount of fuel so, yes, you do need the new draw straw. Pull the bed and drill the tank that way if at all possible. With the fuel tank suspended by the frame rails you can better judge where to cut your straw and it won't be too short.....trust me, I know from experience . Also cut the bottom of the new straw at an angle so that if something were to ever suck up against the straw it could still pull fuel without being completely plugged. Keep us posted.

You can reuse the fuel line from the tank and the draw straw in the tank if the engine is stock.
Find a place where the line is easy to get to and cut it. It has a cover over the line. Remove about 3 inches of the cover to allow easy access to the fuel line. A 3/8 in rubber fuel line will just slip over the fuel line and it will need to be clamped. Because the line is plastic a hose clamp will cause it to collapse with time. A short piece of 3/16 OD copper line will fit inside the line nicely which will keep the line from collapsing. Be sure to de-burr the inside and outside of the copper line.
This will cause a restriction in the fuel line but if the engine is stock all the fuel needed will still be drawn through the restriction. I did this to mine and I am running 17 psi at idle and 15 at WOT and that is after 4 filters.

Got the right parts by ordering the incorrectly labeled Raptor 150. I had to order the 2003-2004 kit, not the 2004.5 to 2007 because I still had the filter mounted fuel pump on my 2004.5. Thanks for all your help!
