Put oil in fuel now white smoke under partial to full throtle

I filtered about 3 gallons of used oil from my last oil change and put it in about a 1/4 tank that was left and drove. I drove for about 25 miles and everything was perfect even full throttle acceleration. i stoped by a friends house for probably 3 hours and when i left and pulled onto the main road under heavy throttle and it started missing and i got a bunch of white smoke. i figured at that point it would be a good idea to fill up the rest of the tank and dilute it out a bit and it worked great for a little while and then it started getting worse. so what i was thinking was the fuel fiilter possibly getting clogged up. im planning to replace that after work any other ideas or suggestions?

same thing that happened to me, just watch out where you replace it, I spilt black fuel all over my driveway. Makes me mad everyday when I walk by it. lol

AM I understanding you correctly, you put 3 gal of used motor oil in the diesel tank 1/4 full?

correct.

...and thanks for the responses. In the future is there anyway to prevent this. such as a fleetgaurd prefilter? I've heard of guys running upwards of 70% oil mixtures and im kinda curious as to how they get away with it. im planning on doing a walbro 295 pump here soon and id rather kill 2 birds with one stone.

best way to prevent it is don't run trash drain oil in your sensitive injection system

Personally I would not run any old (or new) engine oil in a VP44. That puppy is just WAY to expensive to replace...

yeah ill have to agree. I know some 12 valvers that run some heavy mixes and some 24v guys running mixes as well. So, i figuered what the hell

First, I would filter my oil into the old oil containers and take it to Walmart, where they are happy to recycle it for free. Ughh... Putting old motor oil in your nicely running happy-truck is kind of like eating at Mcdonalds everyday for a month.

well I've run 15-20 gallons a fill up, usually only putting anywhere from 5-10 gallons of diesel in. Run's like a champ for me. costs me around 50 bucks to top off the tank. Yall make fun of me, while I go to the bank and change out my thousands of dollars I've saved into quarters, put it in a blow up pool and swim in them.

and then promptly take a shower. ugh

Do you filter this oil completely or just run it right out of the oil pan.

you should never mix over 50/50, I do this as well with no probs. As long as you got it diluted pretty good your fine. Call Cummins they will also second this. Its what the big rigs do when they come in for an oil change, oil is pumped right to the fuel tank on some of them. And yes always filter it, i use an old t-shirt, it takes a while but worth it.

yup, I second the shirt idea, works for me, and takes up some of my idle time. I do push ups while it filters through.

hey I like how you think. i normally try to see if I can do push ups under the oil pan on the truck to see how high i can get it. Marines you know we are always up for a challenge hahaha
