Power steering pump noise

Hey!!
I love this site. Now I don't have to listen to my wife!! My 2001 ctd 4x4 is leaking power steering fluid and I added some yesterday. I filled it to the cold full line. Today it puked a bunch out of the while it warmed up.It was not over filled. While I was driving the pump sounded like it was cavitating. Sort of a roaring groan.....something like my wife when I spend money on my truck. The noise diminshed after a minute but every time I turn I can her it.The leak itself seems small, between the pump and the steering box. I am putting on the DSS tomorrow night and as long as I'm down there what should I look for?I really love my truck almost as much as rodeo.

On mine all that was needed to remedy the problems you describe was to flush the power steering really good and to fill it with fresh fluid. I used a vac to empty the reservoir and refilled it with PS fluid, then turned the steering wheel and got more old fluid, suck out, refill repeat until only clean fluid is present after turning the wheel from full left to full right 'coule of times.

Removing a few ounces of fluid and adding a bottle of Lube-Gard power steering treatment works for me.
Available at most autoparts including Napa.
