Arrow Pouring Diesel Fuel

I'm so frustrated I could cry.

I'm supposed to be on my way outta town and my wifey calls my attention to a fluid leak under the engine.

Turns out to be diesel fuel and it's pouring.

It's running down the block, onto the starter and then dripping off the positive battery cable.

I'm guessing the lift pump?

If anyone wants to help, I've got my cell on...

I"m borrowing a truck to go pickup my free D60 in Palmdale, but it'll still be broken when I get back.

Desert Diesel, I've never heard of a bad LP leaking fuel, just low pressure. I'd be looking at connections first. Hopefully, some of the more knowledgeable guys will chime in here.

Good Luck! Keep us posted on what you find out.

Ok, so here we are...

I pulled the starter and I'm pretty sure I found the leak.

It seems to be a sensor on the bottom side of the LP, on the bowl.

I assume that's what I'm looking at right?

Is there anyway to repair that?

Hmm, if I can't repair the existing pump, what would your recomendation be for aleviating the problem? Aftermarket replacement pump?

dunno of a sensor, just the outlet to the VP44. the WIF sensor is on the side. You do have a fuel filter with the black top? Dunno if the matters but mine does and really only remember seeing a banjo fitting on the bottom. If so, maybe some how loosened up? hope this is some kind of help. keep us posted

That's not a sensor on the bottom of the LP, that's the power connection for the LP motor. If you have fuel leaking from this plug, then that means that the seal around the pump shaft must have started leaking, letting fuel get to the motor internals where it can drain down the wiring.

Are you sure that it's coming from the wiring? Or is it coming from one of the banjos on the side and pooling on the connection before it drips off?

The banjos are dry as a bone. It's definately leaking from the two terminal connector on the bottom.

It's running down there onto the wiring to the low-point (where it begins to curve back up) then it runs off the wire and onto the starter where it basically soaks it.

Also, I'm not talking about a simple drip, I mean it looked like a rain storm while the truck was running.

The sides of the LP (The bowl looking part) are dry and still dust covered.

WOW!!! That's 1.43 MPG's
I had to repair my return hose a couple times on the road too but I was lucky to catch it shortly after it started leaking, then I decided to replace the complete hose. $2. worth of hose aint worth loosing a tank of fuel.
