I spent friday and today hauling round bales of hay 60 miles, round trip, 6 times. Got 10.6mpg. I'm pretty happy about that, because two years ago, I did the same haul with a V-10, and got 6.1mpg. You may only be getting 12.9, but there's not much out there that can pull what we all pull with them and get over 10mpg.
