Hey my friend has a big problem please help. Today in a parking lot my friends 2003 3500 cummins just died. I gave it a look over and coundn't find jack, then i did the old on off on off with the key thing and found the code p 0628. my question is what is this code and what could the problem be? this truck only has 25,000 miles on it and it's a 5 speed. earlier in the day the check engine lite came on so what could all this mean? the truck would turn over, start then stop, this sounded to me like fuel, could the lift pump go out already?

I can find out for you, let me talk to my buddy. Mine did tha same thing some time ago. I know this is a switch problem. It was the fuel switch on tha inj. pump on mine. The wire wasn't on as tight as it chould have been. I wasnt smart and didn't try the key on & off to find tha code, so I can't tell you what the code is yet. The ony way to kill a cummins is to kill tha fuell. Tha only problem is, it all runs through tha computer. You mite be able to disconect tha fuel wire from tha inj. pump and temparaily run a jumper for a second to find out if that is the matter. But tha computer runs the injs. so that mite not work. Get more info latter.

0628 is low voltage detected at the fuel lift pump.

so would low voltage mean a bad wire or bad lift pump?
