Oil Squirter in #6 Cylinder
At 101,000 miles, my '96 stock Cummins ate a piston.
Wouldn't you know it is the #6 hole.
I took it to an independent shop that has a great reputation for working on all Diesels, and they tell me that this should be covered by the Mfg., as they have never seen a Cummins do this @ 100K miles.
The dealer is of course "wafflin`" and says the District Rep will be the one to make the decision on wether the Factory will replace the engine.
The question I have is this; If the Chrysler District Rep. won't agree that this is indeed a "Factory Defect", and will not agree to replace the engine, where do I go, and who do I call??
Thnx,
Mike K.

Re:Oil Squirter in #6 Cylinder
What brand of oil filter were you running???
Also, Im curious what the repair estimate was???
Have you talked to Cummins??? My buddy (98 24 V with an EDGE EZ) had a failure and his engine was eventually sent to Cummins for analysis.
Good Luck....be insistant but nice - hopefully they'll fix it.
