I have an '05 six speed & the clutch is slipping badly while on leave at my parents house. A few questions.....Is South Bend Clutches the best aftermarket clutch? Where would be the best place to order one? Would I need to replace throw out bearings or anything else?? I have a good mechanic I am calling tomorrow am and I would have to get everything fixed before next week. I would like to thank everyone in advance for your input. All of my mods are listed in my signature and later I would like to upgrade my turbo, cp3 & add water methanol for your info.

 

Frist off, you have a nv5600, or a g56, and yes alot (but not all) love the SBC, I just put in a FE last weekend for a guy. and have installed several in the last year. I had one guy tear one up (and he admitted to it) and Peter just sent me a new disc no problem. you can call them direct and get one. it will come with a new throw out bearing. You can get it with a new flywheel or just resurface yours. and a con OFE should be real nice with your mods.

 

Now that it is obvious that I have no clue what my tranny is, how do I figure out which one it is?

 

If reverse is next to 5th, its an NV5600, otherwise a G56. Also you can look under the truck. If you've got rusty, cast iron trans, this is the NV5600. If its nice, shiny aluminum, its a G56.

I ordered the clutch from South Bend today, it might be here tomorrow. I am scared to see what my next weak link will be!!

 

Your duelmass flywheel is next in line to fail. I hope you're replacing it along with the clutch, pilot / throw out bearings, master, and slave cylinder.
