new power steering pump woes

Just replaced power steering pump on Saturday. Drove fine afterwards / no leaks..didn't use it since. Went to drive it tonight and noticed fluid on the driveway....started it up and it was squeling loud as I turned the steering wheel left to right....still has power steering. Check fluid....level very low. Didn't drive it. Any ideas??

Thanks!

If you did not do the full hydraulic system air evacuation after the rebuild and refill, this is a common problem.

Do the air evacuation process, and keep the pump full of fluid while it "burps," and once it is completely full and has been turned from lock to lock (but not touching the stops) a few times, it should be fine.
