Need tranny help

Sorry guys but this isn;t a Dodge Ram problem, but I hope some of you hot rodders out there can help me with my Camaro. Its a '92 RS with a TCI built 700r4. Engine vibrations keep working the cooler lines loose, every couple months I gotta get in there and tighten em up... getting to be a nusiance. My plan is pitch the rigid 5/16 brake line and convert to braided lines. Think it will work? What size AN (I think a no 6)? Your help is appreciated
-Dave

Re:Need tranny help

I had the same problem on my "T" roadster, and fixed it with green Loctite.

Just warm everything up so the cooler lines are hot, torque up the fittings, and then use brake cleaner on the fittings to remove all the oil. As soon as the cleaner has dried, dab on the green Loctite (it is the wicking type) and it will dry in about an hour and the problem is solved. The Loctite must be the "green" variety, not blue or red.

Re:Need tranny help

I think you might wanna try fixxing the vibration problem first. If it is shaking the trans lines loose you will sooner or later loose the rod or main bearings and I believe they are a little more expense than braided hose. From my experience with late model autos I would first remove the serpentine belt and check the harmonic dampener, then look at the driveshaft and U-joints.
Tony

Re:Need tranny help

Sorry to be misleading, its not vibrations as much as I think just the torque of the motor (not exactly stock)... combined with normal bumps and jostles of just driving the thing. I picked up some 1/4 pipe to no. 8 AN fittings last night... and an external cooler. Gonna plug up the radiator mounted cooler and run braided lines to the external. Hope it works.
