Need a Headgasket Fix

I've lost two head gaskets in less than 10k miles :'( on my 96 5 speed, running TST #10, stock injectors, K&N air filter, 16CM HY35 turbo, and open exhaust. I remember reading about a fix for high cylinder pressure head gasket woes, but now that I need it I can't find it. I am pulling a 53' trailer delivering boats and see arox 34lbs of boost when the old girl is working the hills.

Re:Need a Headgasket Fix

There has to be another problem. 34#s of boost is nothing.
I didn`t see if you have gauges? it could be too much heat.
Danny

Re:Need a Headgasket Fix

Yes it has gauges. I've been lifting when the temp hits 1300 pre turbo

That boost & temps are on the low side of causing any trouble.
The only thing I can suggest is doing it again.
Try www.buddhapower.net for the head gaskets, also tell him about your 2 in a row.
Danny

Yes the warp/defect checks have been done. How about some technical/how to info on o-ringing the head, or a source for the info.

Thanks

Dave

Re:Need a Headgasket Fix

From looking at your signature there is no reason for the head gaskets to be letting loose. If the head and the block are stright, I would have to say that you reused the head bolts. These bolts are strech to yeild and should never be reused. As far as o-ringing goes also all performance head shops will be able to o-ring, keep in mind they will need a new head gasket to do this right. Good luck and happy ramming.

Send J.R. Adkins a PM, he just had it done on his and posted the pics in the Member Photos section too.

This link should take you to his pics.

Re:Need a Headgasket Fix

8)thanks for the help. I am waiting for a new head gasket seems my local Cummins shop ran out and they are back ordered. The new head bolts are here now. Once all the parts are in and the results are known I'll post a follow up.
