Mystery Brake Line
I had just installed new shocks on the truck, took it out for a test ride and was getting ready to re hang the spare tire when I saw a brake "hose" hanging by the rear axle. After spending 2 hours looking around I can't find out where it goes. Have been through the factory truck manual several times also. Got me completely stumped.
It comes from the brake line "tee" fitting on the right side of the axle. Steel line comes from the master cylinder, two steel lines to right and left brake drums. This hose comes from the top of the fitting, does not look like "brake" grade material. Looks like a quick lock type fitting on the end.
Brakes work fine, no codes, no ABS light. Truck is 2000, 2500, two wheel drive, rear wheel abs only. Any ideas??

No, the proportion valve is mounted on the frame with an arm going to the axle. This is the distribution "tee" on the axle.

Thanks for the help. Just went thru the manual again, no mention of axel vent. Back under the truck to look again. Looks like the "bean counters" found another way to save .50 cents. At 73 this gets old fast.
Thanks again, Bob H
