sounds like maybe a shutoff solenoid, not sure where they are on the 1st gen. trucks, or could possibly be lift pump related, check in the 1st. gen. forum & see what you can find on a shutoff solenoid, I'd try that first, sorry I couldn't be of more help, Dusty

There is a fuel shutoff solenoid on the first gens. If you remove the plunger fuel will go through withought 12 volts of power. You should first verify 12 volts to the solenoid. Then pull the plunger and see if fuel is getting through. Without the solenoid you won't be able to shut it off with the key. You'll have to use the manual shutoff lever. If you still aren't getting fuel check pressure from the lift pump. If you are getting fuel from the LP you are in need of a new injector pump.

this is what i did
i cracked the lp and got fuel cracked the first injector fuel is spiting out in spurts what else could be the deal i am thinking cps or puter let me know if it could still be the fuel system right now i think this is a good thing right

You should repost this in the 1st gen section. You'll get replies faster. The fuel coming out on the injectror side should be under high pressure not just a squirt. The guys in 1st gen can help you better than here.

A fuel filter could be the issue but the first thing that I'd check is the electrical connection to fuel solonoid. Easiest check is to run a hotwire from the battery to the solonoid terminal (found on top of the pump on the end furthest away from the timing gear. On mine there are 2 spade terminals facing 90* from each other. Either one will work.) You should hear the solonoid click when you jumper it to the battery. If it clicks, see if it will start. You'll have to pull the jumper wire or use the manual shut-down lever to kill it so be prepared. If the solonoid doesn't click or it still won't start, removing the plunger under the solonoid would be a good next step. Keep us posted and keep asking questions. Usually these things are pretty straight-forward.
