Just did brakes- now I get a pop from rear and a shudder?!?!
I just finished installing new rotors and pads, rebuilding the calipers, and I put in the GMC 1 ton rear wheel cylinders that people seem to like. The problem is that the truck stops GREAT, except I get a subtle shudder (not sure if its front or rear) and a pop from the rear brakes when I step on them hard. I didn't remove any of the rear shoes to install the wheel cylinders, so I don't really know what the problem is.
Help?

Not to be obvious, but are you sure that all of the "slots" lined up properly since you didn't remove the shoes? The Emergency brake and the self adjuster can slip out easily...been there, done that! (or, not done that.)

My guess is the shudder and the POP are both related to the work done on rear brakes. Especially if you don't feel the shudder in the steering wheel. Definately go back and check your work at the back first, it may cure both symptoms. Remember not to make a mistake we have all made in the past: don't assume, what I mean is just because you remember tightening or adjusting something the first time, don't skip over it this time. ( Not a criticism, just words of experience)
If after checking rear brakes, you still have the shudder, or you feel it's in the front, it may be poor rotor resurfacing.
GOOD LUCK
Rick
