jumping out of gear

jumping out of gear

I just put a used 6 speed nv5600 in my truck and when i let off the gas it will come out of 6th gear it dosn't do it in other gears but as long as im on the gas i have no problems.

That’s common when synchronizers are going out. I'd take it back and get another one.

sounds to me like a bad main shaft bearing

Yes that will do it as well and most of the time is caused by a bad pilot bearing allowing the input shaft to get missaligned. Either way if you bought it in that condition I'd take it back in the truck and show them whats it's doing so maybe you can get your money back for the used tranny.

I got it pretty cheap and was going to put synchronizers in it in the fall but it looks to be sooner now plus a bearing kit do you think that will fix it.

A good cleaning, bearings, seals, and syncro's and you'll have a reman tranny.
I just checked prices on a rebuild kits with bearings, seals, and syncro's, 800+.
But man that tranny is high to buy rebuilt so yea I'd rebuild it myself too. Beats the heck out of paying 2800+ for a rebuilt one
