Injector nozzle install ?'s
I am getting a late start to putting my new injector nozzles in tonight but, I have a couple questions before I really start. Do I have to replace the copper washers and rubber o-rings on the injectors or can I get by for a while with the old ones? The copper ones are supposed to be about .006" right? Other than that, is there anything I should look out for before starting my first nozzle swap? Thanks

Glad I didnt wait to get a response to install them!! Install was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Took about an hour and a half. I'm sure next time it will be a lot faster since this was my first time. Probably around 30-45 minutes. I didnt get time to replace the fuel filter and I still need to get them flow tested and shimmed, but initial impression is WOW !!! I had to check to make sure the road was dry because I couldnt get traction in 3rd or 4th. Since it is dark outside, I couldnt tell if it smoked any more than before, but I will update tomorrow. Well next comes a big line kit and a carter LP or a fass or a ??? I'll have to do some more checking around in past threads for which one people prefer and have had success with. Since I will be under the truck doing that I might as well put in a new clutch to hold the new found power. Well as long as I'm doing that I probaly should put in a hrvp 44 right This will never end.

This was the first time I really worked on a diesel. I have replaced fuel filters and some other minor things before but never something like this. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. All you need is a 19mm wrench, 3/8 drive ratchet, 3 inch extension, 8mm socket, 10mm socket, 13mm socket, 15mm socket and a flat blade screwdriver. I bought a set of used injectors off of e-bay and put the nozzles on those before I started anything else. Took me about an hour and a half from start time to when the truck started. I removed them again today to replace the copper washers and it took me about 45 minutes. If you want the directions I used last night just send me a pm. This is something anyone can do if you can follow directions the first time.
blackdiesel02- I went with the 100hp nozzles because I do a lot of towing in the winter and I dont have the money to replace the turbo right now. Next summer I will be getting a set of twins, some mach 5's or 6's, drag comp and a couple other goodies. Enough for about 550 hard working horsepower

Thanks for the reply. I have always wanted to do a bit of general tinkering with mine, but am also kind of scared too since I lack any knowledge about them. I noticed that yours is a 98.5 model. Mine is a 3rd gen '03 ...... Don't know if that would make it anymore complicated or not.
