inj. pump questions for 2001

When diving under normal conditions I somtimes lose my R.P.M gage and the truck loses power. Not enough that it quits running but noticable. THis causes the eng. light to come on. The dealer says its the inj. pump at $2,500. my question is would the truck run with a bad pump. Second question is after replacing the lift pump if all air is not bled out of system do you think I would exp. the same problem.

P0216 and 1693, right?

The inj. pump and lift pump can be had for much less than $2,500. More like $1,400 total.

And, no.

Not for an extended peroid. It would stumble, but eventually replace all the air in the lines with fuel.

Did you just replace the LP?

Cycle your key (on, off, on, off, on) NOT start, just "on".

The codes will display in the odometer window followed by "P done".

The tachometer intermittantly cutting out on an '01 would be the camshaft position sensor. Mine was replaced under warranty. Since the computer reads engine rpm off of this sensor also, it may addtionally be causing your loss of power problem.
