How does the clutch fan come off?

Got in a slight accident and pushed the bumper up into the radiator/fan shroud and cracked and bent a couple fan blades...but it looks like the radiator is okay.

How does the fan come off? Do I have to remove the radiator/condenser and all that stuff?

no, if you take the shroud loose you can get it out of there. the fan is held on by the large nut, either get a wrench and use a hammer to whack it loose or find a set that allows you to use an air hammer to break the nut loose, they can be a real pain sometimes....i dont recall for sure but it should spin off in the opposite direction that the engine turns....

It has reverse threads, turn clockwise as you face it to remove.

I still can't get this **** fan off

I've got a 36mm wrench but the pulley just spins, even with the fan belt still on.
Tried to wedge a screwdriver in there but still no luck...any more tips/ideas??

I believe infidel always says to take a big brass drift and give the nut a couple of sharp whacks in the direction it is to spin off, then the wrench should remove it.

Autozone has a special tool for it. OR get a very long flat blade screwdriver or chisel. Remember left hand threads. Place the tip on a corner of a flat, and whack it until it breaks loose. Once loose it will turn by hand. When reinstalling do not tighten it. The engine will snug it up and it will come off a lot easier if need be. An air chisel works very well too, if you have one.

I used a wrench and the biggest cheater pipe I could fit under the hood. It was effortless.

Yeah, they can be a real pain. If you have not started to soak it in a penetrating oil, start. The punch method works, but I took it to another step. With a center punch hit the nut just on the corner, where you would place the punch. Use a 1/4" drill bit and start a hole, but do not drill deep, just a little. This will allow the punch to grab the edge of the nut much better. It will also allow you to angle the punch much more and it will not slip off when you hit it. Good luck.

When reinstalling do not tighten it
I used to give that advice until one that I left untightened came off and caused major damage.
Play it safe and tighten it.
