High pitch noise when boost pressure up
My truck developed a high noise which almost sounds like electrical noise when the engine is under load or the turbo is providing boost.
It is not engine speed related since you can rev the engine with no load and the noise will not reproduce. Another scenerio that proves this is when the torque converter locks with the noise present, the noise will fade and the turbo spools down not when the engine drops in RPM all of a sudden.
I have checked the turbo to the best of my ability and don't see anything wrong and the also checked the impeller on the intake side to see if it might be touching the housing but it was not.
Any thoughs would be appreciated. I guess I could just run it till parts start flying but that is not something I am very fond of doing.

What you're describing sounds very much like a tubing boot leaking either due to a hole or a loose clamp. If I understand you, the sound only occurs during boost conditions.
Check all the charge-air plumbing boots.
Hope this helps.

I just checked all the boots for holes or loose clamps and didn't find anything that stands out.
I will give it a run later on my way into town to see if anything has changed.
What is the usual tell tail signs of a bad turbo anyways?

An alarming amount of oil in the discharge tubing and/or excessive side-play in the turbo shaft's bearings are the big two I guess.
Chips/dings in the blades of the compressor wheel or turbine wheel, etc.
It's really a VERY simple device.

Thats what I kinda figured.
Well, I will give it another run tonight and see if I have done anything to correct the problem.
May just have to run it until something eventful happens. lol
Thanks for your replys BC.

GOT IT!!!
Self induced I might add... grrr
I went to the Holset web and found some good trouble shooting advice on the site. I ended up spraying all the fittings etc with a soapy water solution and started the truck up and ran it at high throttle, sure enough the problem presented itself.
When I changed the inj pump I took the #1 injector line bracket off the intake so it would give me a bit more room to wiggle the lines out of the way. I found it to be about a turn loose, problem solved.
Thanks to all that offered there thoughts on this

Just when you think you are done with a job and check to make sure you did everything right something like this happens. When i put my Comp on and pierced the wire i drove the truck and the CEL came on. Popped the hood and found that i for got to tighten the ground for the comp.
