Yeah, that's exactly what the 'emergency shutdown' on the early Detroits did ... when you pulled it there was a plate that closed off the air to the engine.

Just wondering. If you used a powder extinguisher for a runaway motor wouldn't the air filter catch the powder. In turn the air filter would clog starving the turbo for air. It then would be a matter of replacing the air filter.
