Help Quick! 03 Cummins Turbo Diesel periodically losing prime
I've already replaced my stock lift pump with the in-tank pump. I've tightened down all the fuel lines on the outside of the engine but periodically have a no start condition. I plan to change out the washers on all the banjo fittings this next week but I'm curious about possibly bad injector seals. I've read through about some of the problems on the previous engines but I'm curious what to look for on my 03. Do the fuel lines hook directly to the injectors or are the injectors under the valve cover? Also if they are in fact under the valve cover with the wires running to them are there crossover tubes on the 03 models or not? I'm not seeing any but I do see where the fuel lines connect to the head. Does it just feed the fuel through the head to the injectors?

Welcome to DTR. Click on the "User CP" up in the dark blue bar above, click on 'Edit Signature' and fill it out so we all know what you have. It will show up like mine does, under the ________ below.
What symptoms are your CTD experiencing? Any codes? Still under warrantee?
The fuel lines go through the side of the head (connector tubes) to mate up with the injector which is access from under the valve cover. Be extremely careful around the lines when they are pressured, as a very small line leak can inject high pressure diesel fuel right into your finger/hand/arm. At best, it will hurt like 'real bad'. At worst, it will kill you. These are not like the 2nd gen Cummins where you could loosen the lines to bleed them off. These will make you bleed.
