HELP!!!!!!!!! I just finished installing
my Jacobs brake and IT DOESN'T WORK!!!!!
I spent the better part of all day working on it and I really didn't expect any issues as it went in so well.... I must have missed something.
The truck:
2006 3500 SRW CTD 6spd 4WD
I've gone back through the entire install many times and can find no mistakes. I checked the mechanical side (vacuum, solenoid, brake actuation) and all work individually. It must be in the wiring.... but I've checked it, its right!
I'm totally lost. I know, I know, there's a reason that good mechanics get $70+ per hour
Can anyone help with some ideas????
Thanks,
Tyler

All connections are per the instructions. Two are but connectors, one pre done + ring connector, two pre done plug connectors going into the 50 pin ECM plug. I'm no mechanic that's for sure, but I can follow instructions and that's what I did to the letter. I just don't get it. The only thing I can think of is that the relay could be bad???

One more thing:
NO CODES showing up. So I think I have the wiring right. The only part that's even close to difficult was getting the right pins on the ECM plug. If I screwed those up I should have codes, right???

I'm betting the wiring is where your prob is at. You stated you followed the instructions, but go to the back of the book where the diagram is and check all your wiring compared to that.......and the mechanics don't get $70 an hour, the shop does. Tech might only see 15-23 dollars of that $70.

Hey J BODY,
I did review the diagram in the back and my wiring is a match with the exception of one difference in wire color from the factory. I played around with the relay a bit and found that no power ground combo would result in the little click sound we love to hear. I think this is the issue. I've already run down to the parts house and bought a new one. As soon as I'm done wolfing down my burger I'll try it out.

Well the relay isn't the issue. I replaced it and still not working.
It really is a simple setup I just can't figure where the problem could be.
Any ideas on what to look at now????

Well... I figured I should update you all with the diagnosis. I hate it when people ask for help then disappear without any explanation of what the issue was.
All it took to fix the brake was 2 minutes of a Tech's time and $95. As it turns out I did cross my two wires going to the ECM . The Tech saw it before I even had the hood all the way up.
J Body you had it right. I think I just got soooo wrapped up in it that I wasn't really seeing things clearly.
Thanks for the help guys!
