help.. changed F.C.A and truck woulnt start

i have an 04 and an 05.. the 04 was having probs a wile back and i was throwing a 0088 so i thought it was fuel a fuel problem so i started changing out fuel sensors with ones out of my 01 wth 05 c-rail.. i changed the fca and now the 04 has problems starting.. more cranking than usual.. but still fires up and runs sub par but im get 12 mpg when im used2 22..? and the 01 will NOT START wthout crack.. does this sound like the fca.. or am i looking at the wrong part.
thanks nate

The FCA in an 04 prior to the 04.5 engine change will not work in an 05. They use a different fuel map and the pressure will be low enough to drool the fuel, kill your mileage, and make it hard to start.

If you are using ether to start either truck you will destroy the top compression ring. These engines are absolutely not tolerant to ether and can become ether dependent in just one use if it is squirted directly into the intake or air cleaner. In cold enough weather you can use an ether dampened rag over the snorkel, but even that is problematic if the ether evaporates too fast and can result in chipping the upper outside edges off the top ring.

If you ran it with the FCA disconected you will get max pressure and can damage the fuel limiting valve. This could cause a no start or long crank time. Does engine hammer when running?
