Help!! blew a tranny line today!
I was going out to the farm this morning and got halfway there, and was at the stop sign and a guy told me i was leaking something. it was dripping tranny goo out of the tranny line from the cooler. the bumper framework had rubbed a hole into the hard line , also it was right next to a spot on the line where they curve on the drivers side to the front of the truck-which has a little piece of pipe going between the 2 tranny lines like a H-pipe. Well, right ahead of these lines is where the rubber lines meet the steel lines, so i took the clamps off and cut the H-pipe off of the 2 pipes and slid some rubber hoses over it, secured them with about 6 hose clamps and then put my rubber lines back on. If i had any other choice i wouldn't have cut that H-pipe piece but i was stranded on the side of the road and i actually carry rubber hose and clamps and tools and all that kind of stuff with me {did not like climbing back into my truck like that but...} anyhow, i did stop the leak but better get it fixed , but what should i actually replace or how do i go about fixing this? is this a really high pressure line? where it was split from steel to rubber it was just hose clamped , and it was not leaking at all.. sorry this is so long, :-[

You did it right just cut off the bad section of metal line and replace with a good reinforced rubber hose rated for fuel and oil, and temperature resistant. The line coming from your tranny carries hot oil at a high volume. The pressure is not high the volume it flows is the dangerous part if you loose a cooler line.<br>Thats basically what you do to add an auxillary cooler in the front of the truck.

All the pre 2001 tranny lines either rub or the quick disconnects leak and come apart...it happened to my tranny
So when I had to change my tranny I upgraded all my tranny cooler lines to the new style...its spendy but worth it
