checking for a plugged heater core is a pain because you really cant tell if it is clogged or not.
but if your coolant is really nasty or if you pull the radiator cap and see deposits inside on the passage ways of your radiator it could easily be a heater core.

I just remembered
does your truck have the heater valve on one of the heater hoses? It should be on the passenger side with cable going to it to control how much coolant is allowed to go to the heater core. maybe the cable broke and it is not moving the heater control valve.

I would try looking at that if I was you you may be able to open it by hand to see if it work or not

so now my new vote is heater control valve

No heater valves on modern vehicles because they plug up too often.
Newer rigs use a blend door that directs cold, heater core or a blend of the two to the vents.
I would guess your blend door is stuck letting more cold air in than you want.
