Friend Grenaded his Transfer Case 2002 2500
Help Friend had his Transfer case blow apart. Case is destroyed. He is being told that transfer case was only use between 11/2001 and 6/2002 any ideas if this is correct or if you can use one from other years.
By the way it is a 2002 2500 4X4 I think stock with auto trans (By the way was it still running the 47re in this year?) seems to be some change to front diff part way through this year 0f 2002.

Any help or referral would be great he is stranded out of state traveling on a mission trip to build houses for the homeless in Mexico.....

Have him check www.car-parts.com. He can check junk yards for any region of the US, and may find a case close to him. He will need the identification number off the transfercase.

Where is he located?
First, I am unaware of a specific case unless they changed something when they removed the CAD in mid year 02, the axle is still a Dana, and I bet the difference in the transfer case is nothing more than the deletion of the CAD switch.
There are 2 different 241's though, a DHD and a DLD ( heavy duty and light duty ) Tag under the hood should show which, if not the case does.
Also, all Automatics took a 23 spline input, the manuals a 29.

First he would be nuts to buy it from Dodge, just did a car-part.com search, no good units shown in Az. right now, but a southwest area search turned up plenty in the area, would have to wait on shipping.
He also could call Quad 4X4 or other reliable rebuilder, I am sure they would have one in stock. All you need to know is it is an Auto and if it is a DHD or DLD, which is on thge tag.
