Fault codes 1693 & 1765 Truck wont start
Hey guys, I have a friends truck that wont start (2000 Ram 3500 Auto). Has fault codes P1693 and P1765. I know what they mean but I have no idea where to begin looking. The truck will not start, I though the driver of the truck ran it out of fuel, put 10 gal of fuel into tank, check for pressure at the lift pump, and got 10psi. The trans relay is "buzzing" from what I have been told. I have yet to actually get to take a look at the truck. What I dont know is how long is the lift pump supposed to be running, I know that mine runs for a few seconds to prime the system when the ignition is first turned on, is there a time, I think that mine is like 3 seconds or something like that. As for the trans problem, I have no idea where to start with that code, and do you think the engine not starting and the trans are related. I was thinking that something is shorting out causing the relay to "buzz" and it took out the PCM or blew a fuse or relay out.
Thanks in advance for all your help.

If it ran out of fuel, you will have to "bump" the starter several times to get fuel to the IP. This is not the same as turning the key on. When you "bump" it, the pump will run for a lot longer time. You may also have to crack injector lines 1 and 3 at the injector to get a prime to the engine.

Ok I got off work a little early today and got to take a look at the truck. I was able to prime the system out and get the unit to start. But I still have the trans relay "buzzing" and code 1765. I didnt want to take it out for a drive on the California Freeway system during rush hour and risk it doing something have have me blocking 4 lanes of the 57 Fwy. If anyone has any suggestions on this I still need some info.

At the relay: Pin 86=bat + Pin 85=ground provided by the JTEC controller Pin86=Ignition on 12v Pin87= trans hydraulic control unit which is the 3-4 shift solenoid, tcc solenoid, vf solenoid. You may want to take the cover off the relay and see what's going on. Sounds like the contacts for the 87/30 are "bouncing" which would lead me to check the wiring going to the trans connector. A poor or loose connection can cause this as can a ground issue with the solenoids.
