Factory Keyless Entry....
A friend called this AM. He has an '01, 3500. He's owned it about 2 years. He has never had a key FOB for it, just a key. He has never had the alarm go off, and he has no way of setting it, or turning it off, since he has no FOB.
He removed the CD player to do some work on it, reinstalled it in the dash and now the alarm sets itself off whenever he tries to start the truck.
How can he solve this problem?
Does he need to take the VIN to the dealer to get the key fob? Is it a dealer only item, can a locksmith provide the fob? Can he just disarm the complete system?
Thanks. He's stranded in a small town 60 miles from a dealer---or a locksmith!!

Just a plain ole guy
Does he have a prox key (key with a chip) That may be all he would need to clear the security.
Can he pull remove the battery cables for an hour and see if the ecm resets itself.

I just called him and he left the batteries disconnected for 45 min. and it made no difference. He then found a light green wire with an orange tracer under the dash and grounded it according to a search on DTR and it's stating.
When I go down to see him I get better details of what he did. He does not have the key with a chip. Thanks for you help.
