erratic shifting and torque converter locking and unlocking AGAIN
#17
will do first thing in the morning when i have light it just seem that if the apps works the way i think it dose then when im in park and push the gas petal down slowly then the rpm move up slowly so it seems that it is getting its variable voltage

i think i might have another solution. today it rained and the transmission worked properly i didnt notice any of the torque converter locking and unlocking so if i put a couple of 55 gallon drums of water in the bed of my truck along with a gas powered water pump and plumb in some shower heads above my truck all i have to do when i want to go some where is fire up the water pump so that i get water sprayed over my truck and it will fool the truck into cooperating with me because it will think it raining out side.

Your truck has electrical noise getting into the computer.
DTT sells a filter that almost everytime cures this.
The cleaned battery terminals was your clue. The filter costs $39.

Here is a littile info on the APPS....
CAUTION: Do not attempt to remove sensor from its mounting bracket as electronic calibration will be destroyed (sensor-to-bracket mounting screws are permanently attached). Two accelerator lever set screws are used to position lever. Do not attempt to alter positions of these set screws as electronic calibration will be destroyed.

Funny, that is exactly what I did and it totally cured my problem saving me $500. I adjusted the sensor until it read .547vdc as labeled on the sensor, problem solved for me and no more locking and unlocking and hunting for gears. Also, the screws are not permanently attached, just loctited.

1. Disconnect both batteries.
2. Locate the APPS (Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor) on drivers side front of engine.
3. Remove plastic cover for easier access to the 6 pin connector.
4. Locate the ground (Black with Yellow tracer) wire pin # 4.
5. Cut this wire and splice a wire to the battery ground, then run another wire back from the battery to the
other end of the wire you cut at pin# 4. Do not wire tie this to the alternator harness below the TPS!
6. Reconnect batteries.
7. Now you need to re-learn the TPS, Turn the key to the run position, do not crank. Next depress
the accelerator pedal to the floor slowly and release, turn key off. You may start the engine.
Supplies needed, approximately. 5’ wire, 2 eyelets for battery ground and a butt splice connector.
