ECU - P1691 Code...HELP!

I have done the search on the code and found the description - "Detected error in the fuel injector pump calibration".

Here's the rest of the story;
On my way to work this morning, truck running fine. All of a sudden, dead as a door nail. Pulled in a parking lot. Cycle key switch, all is good (lights, buzzers, FASS turns on, etc...). Tried to start and it only cranked. Sat for a minute, then tried to remember how to access codes. Cycled ign switch several times (couldn't remember how to access codes). Sat for another minute, tried to start and truck started and ran fine. Drove to work, with a couple of minor stumbles in deceleration, but overall, truck seemed to run fine. Just drove to Autozone to have it scanned, and still only showing P1691 (and P1693). Truck seems to be running perfect!!
My question is, is this a glitch, or is the VP44 going out? Will it act like this until repaired, or is it going to totally quit? I'm the third owner and to the best of my knowledge the VP44 was replaced at approx. 75K, truck now has 134K. I do have a FASS w/gauge, and have maintained at least 14 psi since installation of FASS.
Thanks in advance for any help!

1691 is an internal vp44 problem, nothing else

This DTC is caused by an internal Fuel Injection Pump failure.

Thanks Guys!

Funny thing, on the way home from work yesterday the truck seemed to be running better than it ever has!!

I was doing some more searching in here and found a couple of threads indicating a communication error from the Quadzilla XZT??? Possibly a glitch there? Truck is just running so good it's hard to imagine the pump is failing!?!?
