driver rear disc got hot as heck today...? 2 questions...
I got home and noticed that I had a VERY hot disc. I pulled it apart and can't tell why the caliper didn't release. One of the pads (outboard) was a little rough. Disc was fine (although discolored from heat). E-Brake was fine.
1. Why wouldn't it release? Is it common? It's never happened on my truck before.
2. How the heck do you pop the pads out? I have the caliper off right now and can't get the pads out to change them. It seems like the clips should pop off or something but I don't have a spare so I don't want to go a-prying...

The pads come out bypulling them sideway like the outer one pull away from the truck the inner one pull towards the frame, and pull on the top of them so they come out at a bit of an angle that way the claer the clip.
My back passenger caliper stuck on last year and i noticed becouse i saw smoke pouring off it in the mirror, Im not sure what caused it but i just replaced the caliper and I just changed my front passenger pads and rotor becouse it had stuck on and worn the pads right out and ruined my rotor, so its not that uncommon.
Hope this helps.

Duh....I was thinking about the problems with the rotor when I took it apart so the pad carrier and the caliper were removed as a unit making disassembly "difficult". After I took them apart pad removal became obvious.
Thanks for the help!

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
You want to do the same job, opposite side, in another two months! Both have been subjected to same environment. Caliper pistons may have different residual friction as result. Believe that is accepted consensus.
