My truck died today and will not start back. It is showing the 01689 code for no communication between ecm and injector pump. What now? Nape

Looks like an injector pump. 1st Be sure you have good fuel pressure from the LP. Check the codes again for the crankshaft position sensor. 336 I think. I'm not convinced these go bad as often as they show up on the codes. I think it a result of the no communication but for 35-65 bucks it's not worth it not to replace it. It's Up befhind the starter.

Crack 1,3, and 4 injector lines and see if you are getting fuel. Probably not a drop. That's the way mine was.

A lot of these are just dieing while driving down the road. Mine did, no real warning what so ever.

It's about a 4 hour job the first time. There are a couple good posts with all the tools and instructions including mine.

Pm if you need some more help.

Good advice from bentwings above.

My VP died all at once, no warning but at least close to home.

If you don't have a fuel pressure gauge...get one after you change your LP and VP to keep an eye on your fuel pressure.

If Dodge had put at least a low fuel pressure idiot light in the dash alot of us could have saved lots of $$.

Tell me it aint so

I have a FASS, it puts out about 9 Pounds at tihe top of the filter before the vp44. I had to put in the low pressure spring to help with the cranking when I installed it. I get good fuel out of the injectors just won't fire up. It cranked a few times but would not stay running. Won't even fire now. Thanks, Nape
