I've done more than a handfull of them the last three weeks. Even the 06's are breaking. Part is on back order right now as I'm in need of two more. Part is like $45, the rest is labor. Not one of my favorite jobs.

Mine sometims takes 3-4 minutes before it will switch over. Just try to go from defrost to A/C a couple times. That usually works for me. To keep from having problems, I keep it on defrost all winter and on A/C all summer....

They should have done a recall on this problem. Enough people have had a problem with this happening.
It is a safety issue, with no air flow or heat your windows can and will fog up. Cold Temps and the windows will fog up then ice over with out warm air.
Mine failed last year and the mechanice temperaly fixed mine. Since it blew air rhe new dealership could not diagnose it. So it still doesnt work properly

If you feel it deserves a recall voice your complaint here
http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/ you will need your VIN number. Keep it short, simple and as dangerous sounding as possible
It takes very few complaints for the NHTSA to launch an investigation that could force a recall. Remember none of the vehical manufacturers will launch a recall without being forced to by the government. The process requires consumers to file a complaint.
