Dead Pedal - Flat Spot

Dead Pedal - Flat Spot
Hello There,
New guy over from DodgeTrucks.org. I have a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 thus that membership but I'm getting ready to borrow my brother's 2001 2500 4x4 Cummins. He says he has a flat spot much like a gas engine. I've read a little here before posting and it sounds like this VP44 animal for around $1,000. My question is, is there anything a guy could check that might seem like an injector pump but be something else? Mainly asking because hasn't blown a code......yet.
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks,
Bill

sounds like you might need to reset the apps.mine would hit around 55 mph(normal cruising speed home)and would suddenly go blank like i let my foot off of the accelator.there was a thread at one time that told how to turn the apps and have another person read off the voltage of a certain wire on the opposite side againt the firewall. i recalibrated mine this way and it works alot better but once in awhile i have a dead pedal.worth tryin?!!
