Cut My Pipe - ?????
I received my muffler delete pipe from RPM today, decided I would do the install myself.
Eventualy used the sawsall to cut the muffler off, did not cut the incomming or out going sections, but now cannot get the remainder off the pipes - the "crimp" from the stock gillotine clamps is major.
A local shop will help me out tomorrow, the question is:
Can I drive the truck + - 7 miles?
It seems stable enough and won't move, I am just worried about setting the truck on fire with hot exhaust gas.
Thanks.

as long as you are not mashing it with a heavy load behind it your exhaust outlet temp wont go above 200* anyway. take the long way there , you'll like it. crossy

I got it welded on this morning, they could not use the guillotene clamps as the replacement pipe seems to be about 2 - 3" short.
Well it is on and takes some getting used to.
I know my mileage is going to suffer --- I just can't keep my foot out of it.

Question is, what temps will I be seeing at the stack, since it is closer to the heat source than a tailpipe would be?

that high heat paint should stay, I painted a diesel tractor stack with it this time last year and it stayed ok. I would recomend many coats, It's thin.
I painted a gasoline tractor stack with it same day and it lasted about the first 2 acres of plowing and it was down to bare metal.

You cut it twice and it was still too short....
Yes, I cut the muffler off, but managed not to cut the cection of pipe from the cat', nor did I cut any of the tail pipe section, this meaning that the exhaust less the muffler was at the same length as stock.
The new muffler delete pipe from RPM, seemed to be too short to use the same guillotene oem clamps.
This being the case I decided to play safe and have it welded instead.
I know the saying "measure twice - cut once", this truck is my baby, nothing worse than taking a sawsall and cutting on it!
