CRACKING FUEL LINES.
98.5 24VALVE HAD A CRACKED LINE ON THE PUMP,,IT WAS THE BIGGER LINE I ASSUME IT IS THE RETURN LINE.
I REPAIRED IT AND IT CRACKED TWO DAYS LATER. ALL BRACKETS AND MNTS. ARE GOOD AND IN PLACE. I DON'T WANT TO REPLACE THIS LINE AGAIN JUST TO HAVE IT CRACK AGAIN IS THERE A LONG TERM FIX? DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM?,,,ALSO THE TRUCK VIBRATES SLIGHTLY FROM 2000 RPM'S ON UP.

THANKS

Re:CRACKING FUEL LINES.
Could be that maybe it's under some kind of tension... When you take it off either the injector or the pump does it spring one way or another? Don't know if that would make it crack or not... Just a thought.

Re:CRACKING FUEL LINES.
IT DID NOT APPEAR TO SPRING,,HOWEVER I'LL BE LOOKING FOR THAT WHEN I TEAR IT APART THIS WEEKEND AGAIN.
AND GET BACK WITH YOU. ALSO IT IS THE BIGGER LINE RUNNING TO THE PUMP FROM THE TANK,,SO I ASSUME IT IS THE RETURN LINE. AS IT DOES NOT GO THROUGH THE FILTER.

Re:CRACKING FUEL LINES.
Is the pump the silver box on the drivers side with the two lines bolted to it? Mine started leaking bad today from there and i can't even drive it now! I pulled the bolt out of the one that was leaking and found that it is a pressure relief valve with springs and ball bearings in it. I bought new spacer/washers for it but it did not help. Now I think the line is cracked. Is this the same thing???

Re:CRACKING FUEL LINES.
I BELIEVE YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT THE FUEL FILTER HOUSING. YOUR LINK COULD HAVE CRACKED WHERE THE LINE IS CONNECTED TO THE FITTING WITH A WELD. I THINK THERE WAS CONTAMINATION IN MY WELD BECAUSE IT WAS RUSTY AND A COATED LINE SHOULD NOT RUST,,WELL NOT IN THIS NEW OF A TRUCK I DON'T THINK. CUMMINS HASN'T EVEN HAD A PROBLEM WITH THIS. I HAD TO BUY A NEW LINE THOUGH $65,,AND WHO KNOWS HOW MUCH WEAR AND TEAR ON MY LIFT PUMP AND STARTER..GOOD LUCK

Re:CRACKING FUEL LINES.
THE INJECTOR PUMP IS TOWARDS THE FRONT OF THE MOTOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND THE FUEL FILTER HOUSING IS JUST BACK TOWARDS THE MIDDLE,,,BUT THE FUEL LINE WITH THE CHECK BALL IS THE ONE THAT CRACKED ON MINE,,AFTER CLOSER READING OF YOUR LETTER. ONCE AGAIN GOOD LUCK

Re:CRACKING FUEL LINES.
I'm trying to buy a new line but the dumba$$ dealer doesn't know what I'm talking about. Is that the lift pump or the injector pump?? And did you have to buy the lines at the dealer or somewhere else??
Was the line you replaced the one with the big hollow loop on the end where the check valve bolt goes through and bolts to the pump?

Re:CRACKING FUEL LINES.
I ORDERED MY LINE THROUGH A DEALER AND AFTERMARKET DIESEL SHOP, JUST TRYING TO GET ONE ASAP. SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO DRAW DEALERS A MAP. MY CRACKED LINE WAS ON THE INJECTOR PUMP AND IT WENT FROM THERE TO A TEE. IT WOULD BE THE RETURN LINE. HOPE THIS HELPS

ALSO I'M ASSUMING YOU HAVE THE 24 VALVE.

Re:CRACKING FUEL LINES.
I haven't followed the line all the way back to see if goes into a tee. I just cut it off about 6" from the end to check if it was the problem. If the crack wasn't right where the line goes into the end, I would just just get some rubber line and use that to repair it. I think we're talking about the same thing. Was the one you replaced at the front of the box or the rear??

Re:CRACKING FUEL LINES.
The bolt points towards the fender and down a little. It is directly below the large black cover that houses the throttle cable and TV cable for the trans. I cannot believe that I have talked to 2 dealerships parts and service departments and nobody knows anything about these trucks . I have to take a picture in to them so they know what I'm talking about. Now they are telling me it will be special order either way so it will tale 2-3 days to get the part!! >

Re:CRACKING FUEL LINES.
THE SPECIAL ORDER I CAN BELIEVE,,,LOOK FOR AN OUTSIDE CUMMINS PARTS DISTRIBUTOR. IT WAS $25 CHEAPER BOTH PLACES HAD TO SPECIAL ORDER THEM FROM THE ENGINE FACTORY. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO TELL THE DEALER IT IS THE RETURN FUEL LINE FROM THE INJECTOR PUMP TO THE TEE AT THE BACK OF THE MOTER AND THE BOLT HAS A CHECK VALVE. GET THEM TO LET YOU SHOW THEM WHAT LINE IT IS. ALSO I NOW HAVE A BACK UP. IT WILL HANG AROUND UNTIL I NEED IT AGAIN,,HOPE NOT.
