Couple of Questions VP and Gauge Related

I am still having a hard starting problem and took the advice of several members and unplugged the LP when I couldn't start it. It started in 2-3 seconds with out the LP. So I guess that means my VP is on the way out, Right?? For some screwy reason though with a full tank the problem goes away, and I have no air entrained in the lines that I can see through my clear loop into the VP.

When I unplugged the LP I didn't get a check engine light but checked the codes today (couple days later) and got the 0230, Transfer Pump Out of Range. I assume that is because I unplugged it??

How do you clear the codes, and if the LP is bad will it come back?

I got my gauges today and will be installing them this weekend.
I plan on using the schrader valve with a hose from Geno's and isolater to a Westach electric FP guage. When you hook up the hose to the schrader valve do you have to bleed it? If so what's the easiest and cleanest way to do it?

Do you all recomend taking the turbo off to tap for the EGT or can you clean out the filings with a magnet pretty good? Better to drill 1 pilot hole and then final or just drill for the tapped hole right away?

Thanks for the input.

Don't bleed the air out of the fuel pressure hose. You can drill and tap the manifold very easily with the turbo still on. Just coat your drill bit and tap in grease and go slowly, reapplying the grease occasionally. Once your done with that, run a small magent down there until everything becomes clean.

Thanks BigBlue. I figured the tapping could be done with the turbo on.

Nice install billg. I love the ingenuity of the people on this site. I thought about mounting it in the same place. Have you had any vibration problems loosening your fasteners to the wheelwell?

This is from another member a while back, JMO on removing the turbo for the pyro install.

Drilling and taping....

You will deffenatly want to Drop the turbo a smidge and put some greased cardboard in between the manaifold and the turbo housing!!! As a test, I did that as well as used a Greased drill bit and greased Tap (keeped them greased very often) While they appeard to do a great job keeping "most' of the shavings out of the manifold I was very SHOCKED at how much was on the cardboard!!!! Lets just say I'm very happy the cardboard was there.....

Hope this info helps....

It hasn't moved at all. It's been rock solid for about 6 months. The grease fitting hose absorbs a lot of the pulses from the VP-44 and will give the pressure transmitter a longer life. The readings are real smooth and haven’t fluctuated at all, and check ok with the manual test gauge. I’m going to put a 0 to 30 psi glycerin filled gauge in the other end of the “T” for a reference while under the hood. I had a fuel gauge from Western Auto there and it filled up with fuel and started leaking (you get what you pay for).
