Code Errors

Hello once again,
I checked my codes, did the ignition 3 times, that was cool compared to counting the amount of flashes, and it read 1757 and 1762. Can someone find out what they are for me.

In the mean time I have disconnected my batteries to clear the codes.

Thanks,
Dwight

1757: GOV Pressure Not Equal To Target At 15-20 Psi.
1762: Gov Press Sensor offset volts too low or high.
Here is where you can find other codes
http://www.troublecodes.net/chrysler/99-01trk.shtml

Disconnecting the battery might not clear the codes. Sometimes they will clear after the third time running with out the condition that set the codes. I have heard that some auto part stores (Advanced Auto, AutoZone) will check and clear them for free.
Good Luck

Unhappy

One last shot before I take my truck to the dreaded dealer. I'm removing the EZ to see if that was the problem.

This is the governor or pressure sensor in your automatic trany. It sounds like the sensor has gone bad. If you have a good trany shop, I would have them check the pressures. It thinks the pressure is above 3 psi when it should be 0 psi.
Hope this helps.

I'm in the same boat. I dropped my wifes Subaru (yes, Subaru) off at the shop Saturday morning. The check engine light came on and the cooling fans run continuously and you have to crank it till the battery is almost dead before it will start and when it does run, the gas mileage is terrible. I recommended a match in the gas tank in the middle of the back field but she inherited the piece of crap from her mother so I gotta keep it runing.

The guy at the shop said the coolant switches are bad and of course you gotta take half that piece of garbage apart to get to them and you can only buy them from the dealers. The timing belt is wore and the trans fluid needs changed and on and on. I already changed the plugs, plug wires, air filter, and fuel filter. I still like the match idea myself.

(by the way, it's in the drive way most of the time with the keys in it)

dflesher, it sounds like you have an erronious code. If it were a hard fault you would be here complaining about your trans acting weird and not shifting correctly. If the gov psi transducer/solenoid is bad your truck will not shift down into first unless pulled down manually. Personally I would install a new transducer and solenoid as we do see this prob on a regular basis. Also, NO, your EZ will have nothing to do with this code. The codes you've read are stored in the JTEC controller, not the Cummins engine controller.

Thanks everyone

It is a transmission problem. I never explained clearly the problems I was having, the same symptoms as you, J Body, have indicated. I spoke with Bill and Sandy at DTT, Great people, they told what was the code and even gave me the part numbers.

I pulled my truck out of the dealer, they couldn't touch it for 7 days and I baught the Solenoid and the transducer, and found a tranny shop in El Cajon. I told them that I had the parts and the symptoms and they are going to take care of it.

Wish me luck,

Thanks again for everyones help!

Got the code on my wife's jeep. The pressure sensor was bad. Total cost at the dealership for replacement was about $110. That was a lot less than I thought it would be since they had to drop the pan to get to it. Replacement must be fairly simple and quick.

Talking Got her back

Just wanted to let everyone know that I got my truck back. Next is a NASTY letter to Dodge/Chrysler, along with copies of receipts and parts telling them that this should be a TSB and to refund me the money!

At least I'll be on my waty to Yosemite tomorrow

Thanks for all the input and help.

Yes it was the sensors. I bought them from Dodge and went to a local trany shop and they installed them and did a tranny service as well. Wow, this was a long time ago it seems

EdsGarage: Are those codes good for all of 2003? I sometimes see people refering to 03 and 03.5 and was wondering if there might be a difference in the codes. Mine has a build date of 03-04-03.
